These books are the only books that I have written. They sell for around $15 each, on Amazon and other sites.
But I skipped telling you about those twenty years!
First, Dr. Christensen died in 1970. Yet the more that I taught his Method in my own classes, the more I realized the power of its lessons. Late in the 1980s, I realized that I really needed to track down his wife, Dr. Bonniejean Christensen. We finally met, in 1989, and our conversation about her husband brought tears to both of us.
"I don't want his work to die," she said.
"I don't want it to die either," I said.
As soon as I returned home, I began working to bring Dr. Christensen's teachings back to life.
After gratefully receiving the copyright from her and finishing the book, I sent it for review to a well-established publisher in Boston, just a few miles from where I lived, not expecting to hear from them for months.
But in four days, the president of the company called me. "Mr. Stewart, we've never seen anything like it. Can you come in tomorrow?" I did.
We sat and talked, and he explained how publishing works. "We usually print our textbooks in a series. Do you think you could do two more?"
A year and a half later, I showed all three volumes of The Stewart English Program to Dr. Bonniejean Christensen. You can see her looking them over in the Authors section above.
